If I were to name this piece, it would probably be called Sheep go to Heaven, Goats go to Hell (from the song by Cake). The point of the drawing is to display my opinion of murders in the name of God that have historically ran so rampant across the earth, and the story of David and Goliath is one of the most famous and justified by people in a general sense. Traditionally, with images containing both good and evil, the good tends to be more of a source of light and evil to shy away from light and lurk in the shadows. In this image, however, the face of the demon acts as a source of light, and the angel exists more away from the light. This is intended to portray the idea that both the angel and the devil are working together to influence the judgment of David, since the notions of heaven and hell, or God and Satan, are both simply creations of institutionalized religion. My self portrait was inserted to signify the ultimate victim of this dynamic of “good” and “evil” working towards the same goal. We as people, as well as myself as an individual, have all felt the effects of this pervasive pre-conceived notion of “God bless these ones, but not those ones.” Hence the possible title: Sheep go to Heaven, Goats go to Hell.

Hooooly shit John, you're insane. The only, like, comment that I have as far as critique goes? Up on the wing (yes?) of the dragon, there's a spot where the crosshatching didn't come off as consistently as everything else. That's it, though. I still hate you for being better than me.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
